OpenAI Codex release notes: 0.160.0 loads older agent tasks
Part of the series: OpenAI Codex release notes

OpenAI Codex CLI 0.160.0 lets you browse older tasks in the agent command center with "Show more". Previously, the list started with ten recent sessions and offered no way to fetch older history from there. Codex CLI is OpenAI's terminal-based coding agent.
OpenAI Codex release notes: load older tasks
The keyboard-selectable "Show more" row fetches up to ten additional tasks. History combines interactive and non-interactive sessions by recency. Already loaded tasks stay in place if the next request fails, and you can retry. The action also remains accessible during search.

Human step: update and show more
Version 0.160.0 was released on October 1, 2026, and is the stable npm version when checked on October 2. If you use npm, run this in your terminal:
npm install -g @openai/[email protected]

Then select "Show more" in the command center's task list when you need older history. This is an interface action, not an instruction to the agent.

The release also fixes which sessions appear in resume and fork history. Queued messages that have not been sent resume after reconnection once uncertain submissions are resolved, avoiding duplicate sends.
