Claude update: Duet prepares work in the background

Claude Duet is a new app that monitors connected work tools, prepares tasks and reaches out when something needs your attention. Anthropic opened a research preview on October 21. It starts with Pro and Max users in the US through a waitlist; the launch does not mean the service is available in Sweden.

How Claude Duet works

Duet carries over memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account. You type or speak in one ongoing conversation. The agent has its own virtual machine with a browser and can keep working when your phone or computer is off.

Each morning, Duet sends a short brief from connected apps. During the day, it checks accounts every few hours rather than continuously. You can tell it what you want to hear about and how often. You receive a notification when a task is complete or needs review.

Anthropic describes examples such as finding unpaid invoices in QuickBooks or Stripe and drafting reminders, or preparing follow-up emails using contact and deal history from HubSpot. Duet reads and prepares work on its own, but shows the planned action and waits for approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting anything.

Preview access and limits

Duet is available as a separate app for iOS and Android, and on claude.ai. The preview is included in Pro and Max, but shares usage limits with the rest of Claude. Background checks also consume that allowance.

Duet cannot yet show users its browser. Anthropic also says it may misread a conversation or misjudge urgency. Signing in with credentials saved in 1Password is described as coming soon, not as an available feature.

Human step: If you qualify for the US preview, you can join the waitlist on the Claude Duet product page. Anthropic will email when you have access. The launch article gives no date for availability in Sweden.
