Claude Code release notes: 2.1.228–2.1.229 resume Remote Control sessions

Claude Code 2.1.228 and 2.1.229 fix several Remote Control problems and document a direct way to resume the latest remote session from the same project directory. Remote Control connects Claude on the web or mobile app to a Claude Code session that continues to run locally on your computer.

Claude Code 2.1.228 fixes session switching in Remote Control

Version 2.1.228 fixes a problem where /resume during an active Remote Control connection could expose the resumed conversation's title or history in the already connected session. The same release makes cross-session messages easier to read by displaying the sender and message body directly. Messages from another machine now show the sender's Remote Control session name.

Skills synced from claude.ai are also more restricted. They can no longer shadow local commands or MCP prompts, their descriptions are sanitized and labeled, and their local bodies do not run ! commands or expand @ files. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard Claude uses to connect to external tools and data sources.

2.1.229 resumes the latest Remote Control session

Claude Code 2.1.229 documents claude remote-control --continue. The command resumes the most recent Remote Control session started from the current directory instead of creating a new one. The flag cannot be combined with --session-id, --spawn, --capacity, or --create-session-in-dir.

ListAgents now marks disconnected Remote Control sessions as offline and cloud sessions as cloud. The release also fixes a stuck working spinner after slash commands typed in the local terminal.

How to resume a Remote Control session

Human step: Update to Claude Code 2.1.229 and open the same project directory where the remote session was started. Then run:

claude remote-control --continue

Open the session through the displayed link, at claude.ai/code, or in the Claude app. Remote Control is a research preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner must first enable it in Claude Code admin settings. API keys are not supported.
